Trickster-p’s entire work is characterised by a particular theatrical language that brings together different disciplines. New formats are thus created for each new project, always placing the audience’s experience at the forefront. While the duo has often explored spatial dimensions through visual arts, scenography or architecture, with Book is a Book is a Book, the artists are interested in text, graphics and literature to explore the universe of the book as a means of expression. In this performance, the audience, equipped with headphones, turns the pages of a book that describes a journey made of words and images. Mixed with the sounds and light variations of the surrounding space, it invites the audience to abandon itself to the pleasure of the imagination. biographies
Trickster-p arises out of the encounter of Cristina Galbiati and Ilija Luginbühl and is intended as an artistic research project which pushes at the boundaries of different art forms.
Initially their research focused specifically on the centrality and physicality of the performer; as time went on, their focus has shifted from a more narrow definition of theatre to include expressions that transgress genre boundaries, both conceptually and formally resulting from the mixture of extremely heterogeneous artistic media.
Cristina Galbiati and Ilija Luginbühl’s poetics is an invitation for the spectators to open up their perceptive space and create their own reality on the boundaries between inner vision and outer sight.
Their works include performances and installations translated into numerous languages and presented in over 30 countries in Europe, Asia, Australia, North and South America, among them: Book is a Book is a Book (2020), Nettles (2018), Twilight_choreography for the dying light (2016), Sights (2014), B_ Audio walk through a labyrinth of mortality freely adapted from Snow White (2012), .h.g. (2009), Come una preghiera (2007), La vita: avvertenze e modalità d’uso (2005). Along with the artistic work, Trickster-p channelled its experimental vocation by creating la casa del tabacco, a space of creation and experimentation in the village of Novazzano, few kilometres away from the Italian-Swiss border and current base of Trickster project.
